At Neve Michael, we nurture every child with a personalized care program to heal trauma and inspire new beginnings.

Neve Michael was brought to fruition in April 1943 as Bet Hayeled (A Child’s Home), the first public religious institute for children ages 3-6. Founded by the Mizrachi Women’s Histadrut Federation of America and the local HaPoel Hamizrachi Operators Council, our home initially absorbed 10 children of Hagana recruits, 10 children from Teheran and 5 orphaned Holocaust survivors. The management group was steadfast on creating a safe haven for those first children who came through our gates. Shortly after the establishment of the State of Israel, Bet Hayeled was visited by Jakob Michael, a prominent Jewish industrialist and philanthropist. He and his wife Erna were enchanted with the campus, its pastoral surroundings and mostly by the children who were growing up in a warm, loving and safe environment. It was then that Jakob and Erna Michael decided to make a donation, and Beit Hayeled became Neve Michael Children’s Village. Now, many years later, the name is still appropriate with regard to the meaning of the Hebrew term “Neve” – oasis, haven, and abode.
