Hanukkah Party with Special Menorahs

We had an extra special Hanukkah party with a great meal and the most unique menorahs that were made by our children, with a little help from our dedicated staff.  Each menorah had a treasured theme: One represented the culinary delights of the various ethnic groups in Israel; one commemorated hero soldiers who fell in battle in our Holy Land; one symbolized the seven decades of Israeli independence; one marked the great achievements of the State of Israel; and one esteemed the ingathering ...

Community Outreach to Holocaust Survivors

We had an even more moving celebration, led by Tzvia, during which our children brought joy to the hearts of Holocaust survivors at a Hanukkah party held in the Children’s Village. One can only imagine what these heroic survivors went through on those darkest of Hanukkahs, 75 years ago. The very thought makes one shudder. And to think that now, in our own Jewish state, they are celebrating with our children! What a heart-rending holiday event! Tu Bishvat was another special occasion ...

Conversations with Soldiers Before Enlisting in The IDF

A group of soldiers recently visited Neve Michael to talk with and give guidance to our teenage youth who are about to enlist in the Israel Defense Forces. IDF service is a momentous life-changing experience for all Israelis, and even more so for disadvantaged youth. As our teenage boys and girls leave the friendly confines of our safe haven, the IDF serves as a gateway to young adulthood and the real world. At Neve Michael, we do our utmost to prepare our youngsters for the IDF and support ...

A Moving Moment

One of our boys waited fourteen years for someone to teach him how to ride a bicycle. In one half-hour session he quickly caught on and can now ride a bike! Sometimes our children perform tasks that their fathers could have and should have helped them with.  At Neve Michael, there are so many moments like this when our children see their most cherished childhood dreams come true.

Kibbutz Neve Michael

On Rosh Hodesh Adar our children entered the Neve Michael dining room and were surprised to find that they were on a “kibbutz.” In the photo below, the signs and décor portray a kibbutz atmosphere. This “good morning from the kibbutz” 🐣🦆🐰 message conveys to our children a sense of the cooperative ideals of a kibbutz community which also apply to society in general. Our children are encouraged to cooperate with one another and work together to achieve great things. The group...
